What to buy: During the Dragon Boat Festival(around June) , you can buy this kind of special ornaments in the market or even on the side of the streets in Dalian.
Some ornaments look like 'Zong Zi' ( a special food in Dragon Boat Fest, see the instrocuation in my local custom tip). Others are just a kind of amulet. People believe they can be lucky and healthy if they buy them.
Local people also wear a kind of colorized lines on hands, ankle or even nack before the Dragon Boat Fest until the first rain after the fest.
What to pay: Most of ornaments are made by hands. The prices from 0.5 to 20 RMB.

My Favorite shopping center is Victory Plaza. The most difference from other department Store is that you can bargain with the sellers except some speciality store.
All the clothes, shoes,bags are all the latest trend. The fashion trend in Dalian is influced more by Japan and South Korea.
What to buy: There're 3 floors underground.
The first floor sells clothes,shoes,bags,lady accessary, local craft.
The second floor sells drink and icecream, doll, books, cell phone.
The third floor is about local snack.
What to pay: The price is acceptable. You can buy any standard things here, no matter cheap or expensive.

There are many supermarkets and markets around. I like to go in there to have a look. Usually, it will be packed with people and lotsa lotsa stalls.
What to buy: Check out the interesting cooked food - pig intestines, pig's leg, liver, duck, vegetables, etc. There's a type of "cold" vegetable which you choose what you wanna add, then the "chef" will put them into a big bowl and stir with some sauce with sesame seeds. Haven't got the courage to try that yet, cos some of the ingredients look weird to me. I think there's terrine too. Wait till I try, will tell you more. :-)

The shopping center is just below Swissotel. I cannot remember the name cos it is in Chinese and the name is quite long to remember.
Lotsa branded goods imported from overseas, for example, France, Japan, Italy, etc.
There are a lot of salesgirls at every section. It was a bit intimidating to just look around. FYI, I like to be left alone to have a look and being served when I need anything.

What to buy: Everything, from jade to china, clothes, leather,...
What to pay: It depends if you are a good bargainer.

Tan Mu Jiang is a traditional comb multiple shop in China. It sells handmade comb and mirror which are very exquisite.
What to pay: The price is between 20-100 RMB.

It is a huge underground and crowded shopping center. Just like a bustling market with lotsa stalls and small shops around. It is huge and can get lost easily. Lotsa entrances and exits too.
