"Bei Da Qiao" - Grand North Bridge.
This place is at the coast and there are several beaches along this stretch of the coast for swimming, having a picnic, or sun-tanning during the summer. The coast is quite picturesque.

There is a great market (fresh seafood, veggies/fruit, cheap import items like cereal, taco shells, mozzerella cheese, shortening, etc) underneath , entrance to the left of the main gates. To get to the import store, go down two flights, turn right, go to the end of the aisle, last store on the right

This beach is as its name describes. It is very popular with locals. To get there you take the GO train (new/modern, but you may have to stand on weekends) from the station at Dongbei and Shugang a the Xiangiujao Flyover. Cost is about 10 RMB. It takes about 50 minutes. Take a picnic lunch. Interesting architecture (college nearby) Ride takes you thru the industrial zone - not a great view. The beach has many different areas. There is a tour bus, I forget the price but not too bad, you can get off at any stop and then climb back on whenever you are ready to go to the next area. Empty during the week. It is not the "Eastern Hawaii" as one sign suggests but still worth a visit.

Dalian is situated on the famous Yellow Sea which lies between north China and the Korean Peninsula... This part of the Yellow Sea is sometimes referred to in Western cartography as the "Gulf of Korea" or "Korean Bay"... The fishing industry is very active here and there are also some nice beaches as well as endless massive lush green hills...

While I did all the strenuous work of stopping those two giant crabs from tearing each other to shreds, Elva just sat around on this giant seashell, looking pretty... Manchuria was a savage, barbaric land, filled with horrifying overgrown mutants... Had the Chinese been testing nuclear devices in the nearby forbidden zone of Lushun...? Quite possibly, but if so, Elva wasn't talking...

I was exhausted from the strain of separating the two battling crabs, and the sun's midsummer indifference, so when Elva pointed out this gargantuan tree in the distance, I decided it was the perfect time to go and get some shade... I began to notice a trend... Things were bigger here...

Another large square of Dalian, People's Square, reminds me very much of Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur... There are broad flat fields of green grass which you are not allowed to walk on just like at Merdeka Square... People's Square also has gorgeous red flowers decorating it as seen in the photo of Elva shown here...

The Manchurian wilderness is filled with ferocious animals such as tigers, bears and even these two giant crabs! As we were driving through the famous 18 curves region, Elva spotted a heated battle between these two bloodthirsty crustaceans! With quick thinking, I leaped into the fray to separate them before things got too rough...! They were full of anger and hate, hellbent on murder, but I remained cool and detached, even with a grin on my face...!
