dalian port by elva199 Dalian is the most important harbor city and industrial base in northeast China. It enjoys a well established transportation system that makes it very convenient to travel to Dalian from most domestic cities and even some international destinations. By Air: As a major city in northern China, Dalian has convenient air connection with most important domestic cities. The city also has regular flights to and from cities in Japan and South Korea. By Train: Although Dalian is linked to the national railway system, the city only has direct trains running to Beijing and most major cities in Northeast China, including Changchun, Shenyang, Qiqihar, Jilin and Harbin. For destinations in southern and western China, travelers might need to transfer via Beijing. By Boat: Dalian has regular passenger boat services to many cities. Besides the frequent fast ferry boats to Weihai and Yantai in Shandong Province, boats are available to Shanghai, Qinhuangdao and Inchon in Korea. Taxis in Dalian. by ahoerner Taxis are always a good option in China. In Dalian it is not different, because taxis here are also cheap. Basic fare is RMB 8,00 (US$ 1,00) plus RMB 1,20 (0,15 cents) / km. Just follow the basic rule: if you don't speak any Chinese, have with you a card with the written address where you intend to go. public conveyance by socrates_07 I dont know how Chinese call those little means of transportation. I would call it Di di. That means "younger brother" in Chinese. And somehow they look like the younger (much younger) brother of the buses. Anyway, I never drove with "Di di", I think in the bus its more comfortable. Oh, yes, I (!!!) gave those means of transportation that nickname, better not to ask someone that you wanna use a "Di di".... Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Dalian Tram by socrates_07 According my friend, Dalian is the only city with a tram. I was a little bit surprised because not so many people used it when we drove from downtown to the Dong Hai Park. From there you can take a taxi to visit some nice spot along the Binhai Lu. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

- when it is busy, people push to get on and butt in the line - you can buy (at banks) a great card that acts as a pre-paid discount debit card that you scan in as you get on the bus instead of paying the exact change of 1 RMB. You pay a 30 RMB deposit and then can buy, I believe in 20/40 RMB. Save receipt so you can get your deposit back. - buses run very frequently (every 5 minutes) - buses stop about every 6 blocks, long blocks - the #101 which is a bus that looks like two connected by an accordion in between - get on either the back or front door, exit at the middle doors. This bus runs along Huang He Lu - be careful as some buses with the same number have a sign in the front (a box with two XX's) this bus does the short version of the route. ie #31 Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Dalien bus system s good and easy to use. To go to the beach take the number 5 bus from Jiefang Lu. Note; the bus starts and ends here so you need to get on on the "wrong" side of the road (north bound). Bus costs 1 Yuan, you drop your money in the slot as you get on. I recommend waiting for a double decker as then you can get a visit of Dalien included in your money! Leave a Comment Theme: Bus
