Liaoyang Off The Beaten Path

Near the Golden Plaza Hotel along the river was this old Temple. It was closed with chains on the doors. It is a beautiful example of Northern Chinese Architecture. I hope it is being renovated because it was nice seeing among the new buildings going up. The carved stone stele in front with the dragons was nice. The style of the dragons seemed unusual (maybe someone knows something about this). If you compare the ones on the stone and those above it, they are quite different in style. Actually I prefer seeing the way people live rather than archaic religous architectural styles. In most countries little is preserved of the common man so we are left with the image of the temples and churches as being representative.
