Shenyang 'guai po' (strange slope)
An overrated, underwhelming absolute waste of time.
This tourist trap on the northern outskirts of town has small tacky museums, bad animal shows, an empty love hotel and, worst of all, the stupid slope hardly slopes at all. The main theme is that this is one of those places on Earth where you can actually roll uphill. (I recall seeing a similar tourist trap in northern California.) It's total nonsense and the entire property is designed like a very bad circus.
It's just one more reason why Shenyang stinks in my humble opinion.

Last year some teachers went up to the top of the Snow Tower in Shenyang (after living there for a year, we felt almost obligated). The ticket for the elevator ride to the top was rediculously expensive, and for a little more money you can check out the view of Shenyang from outside. Your ticket also buys you a rather large (though very subpar) dinner in the rotating restaurant. This place could be very cool if they put some effort into the restaurant or lowered the price of the elevator ticket.
Unique Suggestions: Go on a clear day (tough in the winter, thanks to smog) to get the best views of the city. The view is incredible! If you go near sunset you can check out the buildings in the light (find the bank shaped like a coin!) and then watch Shenyang fade into black/bright lights. Go to the restaurant since you spent the money already.
Fun Alternatives: If the weather is nice, check out the large park by the river on the south side of town. The entrance is near the bridge on Qingnian Street . Entrance is free, and it is really beautiful in the non-freezing months. It's a good place for jogging or quiet strolls--it reminds me a little bit of a park in my hometown on the Mississippi River. Shenyang's parks have improved quite a bit, and they are worth checking out!

People are very friendly here, They tend to help you out even if you don't have any trouble at all. But keep off those who are over-passionate...you know what i mean:)
