Yangshou Town: Yangshou by Moonlight

by mad4travel

At night in Yanghou there is an amazing light show on the river. The karst limestone landscape is lit up as a magnificent backdrop to a light spectacular.Literally hundreds of people take part in the show, many are locals that have other jobs during the day in the markets, as fisherman or bamboo rafters. The show takes place on a large pool at the side of the river. Hundreds of people glide in from the river on rafts, scenery is dragged across the pool, patterns are made with swirling cloth across the pool. The finale involves hundreds of people decked in fairy lights appearing out of the darkness and dancing. It is so dark you cannot see them at all , only the dancing lights. It is touristy, but most of the tourists are Chinese so it does'nt really feel like it. It gets very busy so come early and expect to shuffle out slowly in the crodes. Its also open air and can rain, you can't really...

Park 97 Bar, Upstairs Bar: Nightlife trails

by Venke

Park 97 which is located in Fuxing Park is a crowd puller any night of the week, haunted by celebrities and their wannabes.Great place for people watching and enjoying some fine food and wine as well as the DJs who are of International standing pumping out some fine tunes to keep your spirits uplifted whilst you enjoy the night away. Can sometimes be very crowded on Friday or Saturdays so go early or ring and get your name on the Guest list or pull your strings to get a member to go with you.Very good selection of wines and spirits as well as other beverages, for slightly higher than normal prices. This is a chic venue so expect to pay for good quality service. Smart Casual no shorts allowed. My friend had to go back to his hotel and get changed as he rocked up in his boardies on a summer day.

Bar at the Windsor Park Hotel: Karaoke

by Phildagr8

You have to check this out. It's a bar that has a band most nights of the week. They'll invite you up to sing, dance, or both!! The mood is positive and the environment is smooth. It's all for fun. And if you're alone, they make you feel somewhat special, so you're really not alone. There's always a good laugh when you hear some bad karaoke, but you have to applaud because they know they are bad but at least they tried. That's what life is about, folks. Nice jeans, a nice top, and up. Nice kaki's would be the preferred. The wait staff are all dressed up, so you don't want to be the most underdressed person.

PLENTY OF CHOICE

by BerniShand

There are plenty of things to do at night in ChinaIf you are an opera fan perhaps you should avoid the Peking Opera, it bears no resemblance to western opera ! but its a great experience none the less.Dont expect to follow the plot, like the music or understand the symbollism, just enjoy it as a unique entertainmentAcrobatic shows are popular in many places, we saw one in Shanghai which was fantastic, and one in Xi`an which was equally good but less of a `spectacular` do try to see one when you visitAlso in Xi`an we saw the `Tang dynasty dinner show`, this show, aimed at the tourist audience, was better than many cabarets I have seen in first class hotels or on cruise ships, the dinner was excellent and our cups of saki were constantly being refilled

The most colorful nightlife in the world!

by we2364

There are more and more bars, discos and Karaoke houses opened up in the cities. The hottest nightlife for Chinese is still Karaoke as it's the way for having the fun with groups. We like to be in the groups.Bars and discos are transferring from western countries. A large number of Chinese still don't go to those places as bar life is not our culture. Recently, I have observed most of bars and discos are transformed into different styles than the real one in the western countries. There are no real clean bars and discos in China as you may find prostitutes are visible in every bars and discos. Sometimes, going to bars(often) is still regarded as a bad habit of a Chinese person. But if you really want to, sometimes you have to feel alright with all the dirty deals happening around you. As you like - probably the most sexy dress.
