So much to eat!

by Chicha15

The best way to eat in China is to hit all the local spots! China is about the culture and mystery so if you spot a place with a long line jump in and ask for what the last guy ordered! The language barrier was a constant reminder that i should have planned better, but I had fun eating things iIhad no clue as to what they were! (I ate jelly fish thinking it was chicken!)Obviously some places you know from books, etc, have the items youve longed to try, like dumplings, peking duck, tea houses, etc. They are worth a try and they are sure to fulfill that hunger! Street food is still my favorite! dont know why, but its so much fun eating out of a plastic bag on the go!

Maojia: Maojia in Dongguan

by ant1606

The beloved revolutionary Chinese leader inspired this venue in the district of Dongcheng, Dongguan, Guangdong. His statue welcomes the patrons who will enjoy Sichuan-style cuisine which includes spicy hot recipes. The thick menu has photos of the dishes which can certainly help selecting for those, like me, who can't otherwise have language clues. My table companions ordered a number of dishes to be shared and everything was delicious - like most other restaurants I've tried in the area.Being greeted at the entrance by the golden half-figure of Mao Tse Dong is anyway an experience by itself.I'll try to figure out the address to share!- To be continued -

T.G.I. Friday's: Don't Miss A Taste of America

Fresh seafood especially along coastal cities: Try the roadside stalls

by Tenzin

We bought a delicious pork pancake for just US 8 cts in Dalien and it was enough for both of us. In restaurants beers cost half that of Coke. You must try the famous Tsingtao beer first brewed by the German colonials. Trust the Germans to seek and brew from China's best source of drinking water: the Laoshan Mountains. Skewered lamb is also a popular snack at just US 10 cts each. Hygiene has improved vastly although some weaker stomachs may still need getting use to. Try Beijing's famous Qing dishes such as dumplings and BBQ meat.

Open air restaurants: Best Chinese food.

by jpud99930

The food we had was octopus, garlic shrimp with a pepper sauce.Rice with giant dumplings.and of course, a few big Tsingtao beers. Their 640ml each. Whats better on a sunny day eating on the South China Sea. Garlic shrimp.Freshness.And a lot of garlic.

Din Tai Fung: Shanghai dumpings - xiao long bao

by mustanghk

These are popping up all over the world but have the most amazing pork dumplings with broth in them. They are so delicious I go to Din Tai Fung if I'm in any city which has one. Soooo yummy. Xiao Long Bao - Shanghainese pork dumplings with pork broth inside. Be careful when you bite into them because the broth can burn your mouth.

China Flower: Tasty Chicken! Literally.

by DueSer

This is a tiny place that has enough terrific food that you may have trouble fitting out the door when you leave. The place is two stories, not much in the way of decor, but who cares when the food is this delicious? I wasn't paying a lot of attention to anything other than what was being delivered to my table. We were a group of 6 and it took a lot of discussion before we finally settled on a few things and shared. We got beef and peppers, Shanghai style mini pork dumplings (xiao long bao), rice, and "tasty chicken." That was the English translation on the menu. It's a chicken dish that comes in an old-style wooden bowl (more on that later). The menu translations leave a lot to be desired and the staff speak no English but you can fumble around and do all right, I think, just by pointing. The only problems could be if something unexpected arises. We got everything we ordered except the...
