Green Molly Restaurant & Pub (Gaoxin District)
As a foreigner living in Xian for several years, I must say this is easily the best bar in Xian.
The basement level pub is decked out with dark wood and pictures everywhere. It has a really nice horseshoe bar, tables, booths and great bar chairs. There¡¯s a billiard table, foosball table and even air hockey. Space for about 120 + people. They open around 7, it¡¯s busy some nights while other nights are pretty laid-back. Lots of foreign beers on draft.
Average Price 20-40 rmb per drink
Getting there: The Green Molly is located in the middle of the block on the west side of Gaoxin road, between Keji and Guanghua roads. The easiest way to get there is to get in a taxi and say ¡°gao xin lu, gao ke da sha¡± (gow shin loo, gow kuh da sha) which will leave you in front of the Bank of China. The entrance is further back, but you should be able to see it off to the right.
Address: 200m north on your right hand of the GINWA (gaoxin) shopping center back door.
Tel: 029-81883339
Better yet is if you can get someone Chinese to write down this address for you so you can give it to a driver.

This was a really fun, really cheap meal, only $7 per person. The wait staff was very helpful, and I didn't see any outright giggling at our ignorance of the process. We each were given a hot pot, a brass pot on top of a sterno fire. Bill ordered the spicy soup, and I got the mild. Then we went to get our food to cook in the pot. Dinner included all you could eat, plus drinks and dessert. I got white chocolate cake with walnuts. It was an excellent meal and fun, too.
Favorite Dish: There was a table loaded with vegetables (broccoli, tomatoes, 3 kinds of mushrooms, zucchini, lettuce, noodles, and much, much more). A cafeteria-style cooler was filled with meats and seafood: pork, beef, lamb, shrimp, dumplings, crab, ham, chicken sausage. There were at lest 15 bowls of items to make sauce: peanut sauce, soy sauce, ginger, oils, etc. A waitress fixed our sauce for us since I think we looked too clueless. The hot pot comes to a boil and one puts the food items in with chopsticks. When the item is cooked, one dips in the sauce and eats.
