    Tsingdao Beer Museum: great souvenirs

by globetrott Written Apr 19, 2009

In Tsingdao Beer Museum you will find a large choice of beer-souvenirs in the big hall, where you will be able to taste the famous beer. They also had a funny oldfashioned way to sell their goods : First you have to ask for the item and one lady will fill out by hand a form in 2 copies, you have to go to the cashier to pay and get one of the 2 copies stamped and go back to the lady again and will get your things. Unfortunately that takes a very long time when you will have a large group of tourists ahead of you...

What to buy: Take a look at my pics : they have beerglasses, saucers, lots of different beers, caps, steins, bottle-openers. The ladies will speak a bit of german and also a bit of english.

What to pay: Prices are average

at the pier to the pagoda: sea-shells & other souvenirs

There are various stands along the long pier that is leading to the "Pagode der zur├╝ckgeworfenen Welle" , that is one of the most beautiful tourist-sights of Quindao - see it in my last 2 pics, unfortunately I did not yet find the english name for it.

What to buy: They are offering lots of different sea-shells and corals of all sizes, you simply should be aware of the fact that it is not illegal to sell or buy them in China, BUT it might be illegal to take them to your homecountry !!!

    Jimo Lu Market

The ground floor offers jewelry, jade, pearls, watches, and stationery while the second floor has shoes, boots, sandals, wallets, backpacks, and bags of all kinds including knock-offs of your favorite brands.
The two massive subterranean floors contain all sorts of clothing shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, sweaters, dresses, and more. Jimo Lu market is an excellent shopping venue if you have loads of time to browse and bargain.

    Steet market: Handcraft market

by DSwede Written Jan 15, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Its a street market that is open ~8am until ~5pm, but they start packing up around 4pm. There are many store fronts that are open later, but if you walk the main street and look for the passageways to the interior courtyard, that's the good stuff

What to buy: Antique handcrafts and local souveiners.

What to pay: Depends of what you get and how good you are at bartering.

If you're into model ships, both naval or commercial, then this is the place for you. All kinds of ships can be bought from Chinese vessels to more well known western vessels. I saw a group of Chinese guys by one each so it's definitely a popular place.

Tsingtao Brewery Shop: I loved the beer so much, I bought the T-shirt!

by Willettsworld Written Jul 19, 2009

There's a Tsingtao beer shop right at the end of the tour around the brewery where you can buy anything and everything on Tsingtao beer. As I liked the beer so much, I literally came, drank and bought the T-Shirt! There's a whole host of souvenirs on display and I also bought a small souvenir glass which I had to carry around with me for a couple of months before I flew back home and luckily it stayed intact.

Decent supermarkets and speciality shops: A very good wine

by Saagar Written Nov 13, 2011

This is not about a shop, but about the only really good wine that I came across in China.

What to buy: It is a red Cabernet Sauvignon by Qingdao Huadong Winery Co. The label said Huadong, Tsingtao 2001, founders' reserve. This wine matches the best of European wines in the same price level.

What to pay: About 180 RMB/bottle (750 ml)
