Yantai Restaurants

Nice and tasty japanese food. It has private rooms for the ones who want to eat their food in private japanese style decorated enviroment.

Favorite Dish: Grilled beef with garlic and onions. Rolled bacon with long mushrooms. Seafood eggroll

Jackie's creates a laid back atmosphere with friendly service and English-language music in the background. The food is a nice blend of many western dishes including BBQ ribs and chicken, fish and chips, and sizzling Fajitas. It definitely provided a much needed taste of home during my 3 month stay in Yantai.

I ate at two restaurants in this area which included several clean and tasty local restaurants. Happiness Restaurant is a local chain specializing in seafood.

Fresh seafood abounds throughout the area. In most restaurants you can pick your fin fish or shell fish from an aquarium or plastic containers filled with salt water from the sea. Then you return to your seat to await the freshly cooked lightly seasoned simple but good cuisine of Yantai.

The lamb dumplings and fried octopus was delicous at Ha-Ha-Ha Dumpling House.

Favorite Dish: The fresh octopus was great at the dumpling house. I hadn't had octopus so good since I ate octopus sashimi on a fishing boat in the Setonaikai of Japan.

The local Wolf Fish was also delicious.

Abalone even in Yantai was not cheap. But they were so tender.

The area is not very suitable for vegetarians if you are into sampling local cuisine. Wuhan was better on that score. I became a carnivore for a week and don't regret it. If you must remain vegetarian the local fruit was cheap and delicous.
