Nanjing Road: Night Stroll

by i-s-a

People-watching is such an enjoyable activity. We spent a couple of hours here just letting the time flew by. People is everywhere, the weather is chilly, buildings are lighted and the vibe is just great! At certain time (maybe 7:00 to 10:oopm...not sure), the whole stretch of Nanjing Road was closed to vehicles so people can roam freely.

ERA - Intersection of Time (Shanghai Circus World): Chinese Acrobats

by ellyse

There're at least 2 regular Chinese acrobat performances in Shanghai. The more established one is at Shanghai Centre Theatre (aka Portman Ritz-Carlton); this one that I recommend is at Shanghai Circus World.I've been to both at least twice each, and I definitely prefer this one. There're many segments to the performance, including contortionists, magic show, jumping through hoops, dancing with bolts of cloth (attached to the ceiling) as well as the my favourite: motorbike-riding in an enclosed cage. This one is always the finale of the performance.Another plus for me would be the multimedia displays as well as the LIVE music accompaniments. That's something you don't get with the other performance!Photography and video isn't allowed but I did manage to sneak a few photos in, no flash.Ticket prices are usually 80/180/280/380/580 RMB. I think 380 RMB is enough for a pretty good view...

Xin tian di: Xin tian di

by Sambawalk

Xin tian di is the place where you can chill out and have drink and food. This place is not as happening as some new spots, such as Julu lu and Maoming Nan Lu. There are some fine restaurants inside the complex at end of this area.

Windows Too, Guandi and Bonbon: RnB bar and night clubs

by lovesarah

I am a great fan of RnB. Unfortunately Shanghai doesn't have as good RnB night clubs as London or Birmingham. Never mind, I can still find some. Here are three RnB and hip hop night clubs I'd like to go very often.Windows Too does RnB and hip-hop all the time. It's near JingAn Temple and the place is rough and very down to earth. The drinks are relevantly cheaper than all the major bars in Shanghai. It's kind of busy everyday, so it's good to go on Sunday and other working days when everywhere else is quieter. It's free entrance in the weekdays and 50RMB including one drink in the weekend nights. There are a few Russian working girls there looking for business though. Guandi does RnB and hip-hop all the time too. But the place is more expensive. It's in the nice Fuxing Park area. In the weekend the entrance fee is 60RMB and around 50RMB per drink. The place gets very crowded in the...

East Asia Bar: People Watching at Xin Tian Di

by yellowbell

Xin Tian Di has several bars and the ritzy East Asia Bar is owned by Jackie Chan. I love the architectures of the buildings here. Since this is the place to be seen, food and drinks are bit pricey (at least Y150 each).A Filipino band plays in one of the bars.

Charming Shanghai: Acrobat Show

by yellowbell

I love the acrobat show especially the motorbike riders, all 4 of them, who drove inside a meshed globe to the tune of Superman! The 1.5 hour show had the usual trapeze acts, plates swirling from poles, ceramic vase juggling. You have the opportunity to meet and greet the performers so I posed with one of the motorbike riders!Even the backdrop changes from Pudong skyline to the Great Wall to a Chinese garden.Ticket ranges from $30, $40, and $50 so we got the $40 ticket/person and we got a balcony seat which is just perfect because I was able to record the highlights of the show.

Xing Tian Di

by touraco

Xing Tian Di is a restored mid-19th century development in Shanghai. It is now the hip area of Shanghai where you can find many expats and young professionals dining and wining and of course shopping. It's a pretty quaint place for dining but be prepared to pay for your food. There are different cuisines available ranging from thai, japanese, italian and of course chinese.Do drop by for a cup of coffee at starbucks even if you do not want to dine there. Soak in the atmosphere and watch the world go by.You can also take a stroll along the various walkways.

Cigar Jazz Wine: Nice pub with fantastic views

by victorwkf

The Cigar Jazz Wine is one of the best places to hang around at night with its live energetic music and fantastic views of the city, as it is located on the 50th floor of the Bund Centre Office Tower next to the Westin Shanghai Hotel.

Glittering buildings at night

by victorwkf

Because Shanghai is such a modern city, you can see plenty of glittering lights in the city at night, especially the colourful and creative billboards. Even some of the historical buildings are lighted up at night giving them a very beautiful sight to behold.
