by Jiang_Cucha Pu Dong
Pudong New Area is part of the city of Shanghai. It is located on the eastern side of Huangpu River, which cuts through the city. Pudong has a land area of 533.44 square kilometers and a permanent population of 1.63 million. In the past, due to the lack of bridges and tunnels across the river, Pudong was lagging far behind the old downtown of Shanghai in term of economic growth, though it lies just across the river from the latter. by Jiang_Cucha She Shan Cathedral
The She Shan Cathedral stands on the hill named She Shan which lies to the north of the Songjiang county. This construction was built during 1925-35. The design of the cathedral is under a Roman style influenced by eclecticism. The Baroque domes and Gothic inner ornamentations get in harmony with each other. Along the zigzaging path leading up to the Cathedral, there 14 'hard-walking pavilions' at all the corner-turnings which portray what Jesus had suffered during his life time. Leave a Comment

by Jiang_Cucha The Bund and the bank of Huangpu River
The Bund, which extends from Jinling Road in the south to the Waibaidu Bridge over the Suzhou Creek in the north, is on the western bank of the Huangpu River. It is a 1.5-kilometer boulevard and used to be called the Huangpu Shoal. It used to be a 10-meter-wide boulevard lined with canopy-like sycamores. Cedars, cassias, and camphor trees made the street green all the year round. Flower beds were always in blossoms. Now it becomes the favored place for the tourists to tarry and enjoy the river scene and cultural activities going on along the Bund. Walking up to the dam, you will be fascinated by the sight of forest of masts, the glittering waves, the impressive skyline, and shadowy trees interlacing with beautiful flowers. It is just like a magnificent scroll. Leave a Comment

by Jiang_Cucha Xu Jia Hui Cathedral
Xujiahui Catheral, the largest Catholic church in Shanghai, was constructed at 158 Puxi Road in 1910. It is a French Gothic construction. The two belfries tower over the sky. The outer walls are made up of red bricks. The eaves, gates and windows are of Gothic design. The church is richly ornamented by marble sculptures. The highrise and slender structure creates a mysterious illusion of the heaven. Some movie and TV directors love this place for shooting. Actually, I like it too though I am a buddhist.
