Great Music, no hassling waiters or waitresses around. Prices of Drinks are ok. You can dance on the bar table, which is great. great music. On Sunday there is salsa night. Watch out for one Bartender, who tries to cheat people if you do not know the prices.

Located in the center of Shanghai City south of Huaihai Zhong Lu, Shanghai Xin Tian Di has become an urban tourist attraction that holds the historical and cultural legacies of the city. Shanghai Xin Tian Di is unique because of its concept of construction. It retains the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai. On the other hand, its interior embodies a totally different world of international gallery, bars and cafes, boutiques or theme restaurants. When you walk into Xin Tian Di, you will get the taste both of Shanghai in the 1920's and the sonic modern lifestyle of urbanites of the 21st century.

Xin Tian Di is divided into two parts: the South Block and the North Block. The South Block mainly consists of modern architecture with Shikumen architecture as an accompaniment. Its North Block kept the old Shikumen architecture style, forming a contrast to the modern South Block.

Face Bar: Sip drinks in old Shanghai

by planetmaster Written Dec 15, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Face Bar is a must see place for drinks. Even though a bit pricey, the atmosphere cannot be beat.
Situated at an old Shanghai mansion placed behind the walls off the street (Rui Juin 2) street, Face is like stepping back into old times past. You can sit outside in the warmer days outside next to the huge lawn and enjoy the skyscrapers lights that twinkle outside the walls in the heart of this pulsating city. Inside is kind of Indian new age music, comfortable sofas and even some chinese style beds to sip your drinks
    Enjoy!

  • Bund area: Nightlife in shanghai

    by harp450 Written Oct 26, 2007

We were walking on the bund street which is only open for pedestrian, There this very innocent looking chinese guy who entised us to visit his uncle's nightclub with lots of good looking girls whom we could take to our hotel which we agreed. The nightclub was on the 6th floor of a office building just behind this street. As soon as we entered we felt we have come to a wrong place. It had small rooms where the girls were called ( horrible looking) & when you choose them, they ask you for lots of tips & you have to order for them as well. They said you can have sex there only & we said we are not interested than they called for the bill & the bill made was for 150 US $( this is even when they didn't allow us to touch them). they add huge room charges & service charges etc. The place is such that you just cannot refuse. We felt as if we were kidnapped & felt liberated once we come out.

My friends beware don't go to any club where some tout wants you to go, They are going to rip you Off !!!!

After a couple of days in Shanghai, I was yearning for a place that's not so chinese. (But it looks like you can't escape from the dice rolling whichever club you're in) This is a pretty neat joint. Pool tables, Darts, table soccer... beer and finger food.

This is a very cool bar on the 6th Floor in the same building as the more famous bar M on the bond. B eautiflly decorated a bit like a "boudoir style", great cocktails list with massive windows overlooking the river right opposite the Pearl Tower.

Dress Code: trendy and hip si I guess visible designer clothes but less shallow than M

    Oscar's Pub: A Popular Ex-Pat Neighborhood Bar

    by Paul2001 Updated Feb 9, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Oscar's Pub.

This is another pub set in a old transformed house. This is often the case with the bars in the French Concession. The decor of Oscar's Pub is less atmospheric than nearby O'Malley's. This is probably because the clientele is less of the affluent business people from abroad with a big expense account. Instead the people you encounter here are expat locals out for a beer with the mates. Hence I thought this place had a less pretentious feel. This pub has a very small patio.

O'Malley's Irish Pub is a huge, meandering pub located in an old mansion. It is divided up into various section or rooms and even has a library. O'Malley's is famous for it's massive patio garden. These are a rarity in this part of China so it is great to have an opportunity to a beer under the stars. This bar is extremely popular with expats and foriegn business people flying into Shanghai. It also serves as a sports bar with many televisions for you viewing.

The ABC Bar: A good place for a drink by the Bund

    by Paul2001 Updated Feb 9, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

To be honest I am not sure I got the name of the this bar right. I am fairly sure that it was the ABC Bar. It is in the basement of a building sitting on the Bund. The clientele was mostly Western business people rather than tourist. It is owned by an Englishman that I met. The drinks are costly and on many nights there is live music in the form of jazz. There are also pool tables/ The bar is one of the few that I noticed in this section of the city.
