To be honest I am not sure I got the name of the this bar right. I am fairly sure that it was the ABC Bar. It is in the basement of a building sitting on the Bund. The clientele was mostly Western business people rather than tourist. It is owned by an Englishman that I met. The drinks are costly and on many nights there is live music in the form of jazz. There are also pool tables/ The bar is one of the few that I noticed in this section of the city.

A hopping concert venue, ARK Live House has revived the rock scene in Shanghai by importing bands from Beijing, Japan, and occasionally the U.S. Tucked away in a narrow alley in Xintiandi, ARK is one of the most established live music venues in town, with a symphonic sound system and an intimate view of the stage from every corner. Local and overseas bands showcase their talents every night of the week. Find a table on the first or second floor, sit back and enjoy the tunes. Open-space music bar format offers a variety of bands and welcome relief from cover band purgatory. Free entry. Opens daily 5:30pm-1am. All cards accepted.

Describing itself as the craziest party in Shanghai may be a bit boastful of this Mexican/Spanish bar, but good times are still to be had by all. They freely invite people to jump up and dance on the bar while tequila is continuously flowing. Margaritas are key here as it is the theme, and tacos and burritos can even be found earlier in the evening. This is a good nightspot but can get a bit crowded so avoid if that's not your thing.

Bar Rouge (near The Bund) is a great place. The club is filled with hot girls, alot of models.
Very expensive, but its worth it. Be prepared to stand in a huge line if you are a guy. But try to hook up with girls outside. If they are hot, you have a chance to get past the line:)

After my VT meet up at Park 97, at 2330 we went straight to Babyface Discotheque.
It is a big disco setup alrite but its totally packed and crowded. So many guests making it impossible to dance. All guests were dancing only limited space, just by moving their bodies.
Anyhow, lots of beautiful faces can be seen inside this disco. Most are young Chinese girls and boys. But I do see also few westerner around that nite.
As it was getting too crowded, we decided to heads back to the hotel at 0030.
But if you really enjoy socializing, this is a perfect spot to go. Tunes played by DJ that nite were very good indeed.
Its packed but worth the experience.

Went to Park 97 to meet a VTer. It was a place introduced by a Malaysian friend of mine that frequently travel to Shanghai.
Noticed that it has 3 sections, each section playing different tune of music.
Not only disco, this club/pub do offer tables for dining.

The place is nestled in People's Park, and has an incredible atmosphere to it. At times I forgot that I was in China. The place has a Middle Eastern feel to it with nice plush comfy couchs, and hookah pipes. You can take a seat on beautiful wrought iron chairs, with mosaic tiled tables over looking the peaceful pond. We were there one night when it was rainiing, and it was extremely tranquil, as long as you didn't look to high, and see the tall buildings above the treeline. =)
Happy Hour I think was between 5-8:30 PM drinks half price...
And for some strange reason I didn't take any pictures of the place itself, tooooooo caught up in HAPPY HOUR I guess!!!!!!

After spending a couple of hours enjoying the view from a classy place on top of one of the buildings along the Bund, it was quite disorienting to be in a nightclub along Mao Ming. It was more disappointing when the club looked more like a girly bar filled with old, drunken businessmen (who always managed to make anything sleazy anyway). We decided to stay anyway because my friends knew one of the girls in the bar (why am I not surprised with that?) and she did take good care of us. She didn't seem like a woman of the night, just a friend guest relations officer who knew how to entertain guests (and I meant that in a wholesome manner).
This place is anything but happening. But since my friends can more than make do with a pitiful situation (plus, we were inebriated by then, so anything would do), we all managed to have a great time and danced the night away. We came in at about 12MN and left at around a little past 2AM.
The music was OK. But the bartender didn't know how to mix his drinks. The rum&cola tasted more like cola and the vodka&lime tasted more like lime. I had to have several rounds just to get a buzz (or maybe because I have a high tolerance for alcohol?). Get the picture?
Dress Code: For females, please don't wear anything skanky. You wouldn't want to be mistaken for a lady of the night.
