This was the best restuarant i have ever been to in shanghai. The best part is that it is made exactly for foreigners. i guess. coz most people there were non-chinese.
Favorite Dish: there was this duck thing. really cant recollect the names. im posting the pictures of the dishes for your info. it should help you to decide.
contact VTer cecilia for more info. she is a great guide for this place

Very welcoming staff, wonderful extensive (English) menu. Great ambiance about the place. Reasonably priced food and wine. Europeans and Chinese all seem to rate this a first class restaurant. I was there with my wife in May 2005 and we will revisit in September 2005 with my two daughters.(Cant wait)
Favorite Dish: Crispy Duck is fantastic as is the Drunken Chicken. No ice cream but Sticky rice is very good as dessert

This is a place we go faithfully - and the recent trips- they gave us 10 pct discount!!!
Favorite Dish: For entree - we love cold dishes...they do it so well here. Simple things like shredded chicken with peanut sauce - ban ban gai, and also cold shredded jelly fish - so yummy.
l love their sweet and sour fish - the sauce here is awesome with chunks of fresh pineapple, onions, pine nuts...
slow cooked pork trotters, beef cooked with crispy chinese curlers with pine nuts etc,
crispy duck ...
and also best of all was the 'free' dessert...which I always demand for seconds!!!
it is a very crispy STICKY RICE pancake sandwiched with red bean and banana and i am not sure what else....but it is to die for.

1221. The Dining Room is on my MUST GO list, simply the finest resturants among all I visited in Shanghai. Located in the corner of an old small building, serving fabelous Shanghai/Chinese dishes with Western dining decor, relaxed and fun. We experienced high levels of warm service from the lady owner (front row 4th from the right). Rreservation is neccessary, always full house!
Favorite Dish: Appitizers (assorted). Apple Soup. Spicy Sliced Beef with Bread.
