The view's the thing here! On the top floor of a 6-story commercial building on the old colonial side of the river, the outdoor terrace overlooks Shanghai's famous Bund, or riverside pedestrian walkway. A wonderful place to enjoy the night air and view along with your cognac following a fine meal.

If you are looking for western food in Shanghai, this place is brilliant. The atmosphere, service and food are excellent. The building is very old and you kind of get a 1920's ambience mixed in with modern decor on the inside - if you know what I mean.

This is extensive and flavourful array of curry dishes will be appreciated by the most discriminating diner. The service is attentive and the facilities are spotless. It was difficult to finally declare defeat and struggle reluctantly away from the table.

The restaurant is part of the very exclusive Shanghai American Club. A fine dining restaurant and open only to members and their guests.
One wall of the restaurant is made of glass and gives you a good view of the Bund and the Oriental Pearl Broadcasting and TV Tower.
I was in awe of my surroundings that I forgot what I had. Must have been clubhouse sandwich and ice tea. I spent a week in China and at the end of the tour, I was so, so tired of eating Chinese food, even though I like it a lot. But fortunatelly there are a lot of Mcdonald's and Subway around downtown. Shop Name: Xiao Yang Sheng Jian Guan

According to my friend, a local Shanghainese, this little shop was voted to serve the best "Sheng Jian Bao" in Shanghai.
Sheng Jian Bao is a traditional Shanghainese snack. It's essentially a dumpling, filled with minced pork. This dumpling is steamed till it's soft, then fried on a hot plate till brown on one side.
When you bite into the dumpling, hot soup gushes into your mouth, sending a burst of flavour directly to the senses.
You have to be careful to make just the teeniest little hole with your teeth in the dumpling skin, to control the speed that the soup is split out. Otherwise, it may spill all over the table or yourself!
This dingy little shop doesn't look like anything from the outside, but judging from the never-ending queue, it really must be something. We had to squeeze into this little attic to polish off the dumplings as quick as we can (basically, it's not a place to linger for hours).
