 | Shanghai Restaurants | Tips 81 - 90 of 402 | | I have to say this probably the best restaurant I have ever been to in the entire world, and boy I have been to some great restaurants (read my other travel tips). From the minute you walk in you know your at a special place. We had probably the best martini's ever at the ultra cool bar area before being seated near a window facing the Pudong skyline. The menu is heavy on fresh seafood. The Chef himself, David Laris(an Australian), buy's all the seafood everyday, fresh, so the food is outrageous good !!!!! The service is perfect. Everyone speaks perfect English. The price's are standard international prices so this isn't a cheap place to eat; especially when China is sooo cheap. The prices run from 100 RMB to 450 RMB a plate, but it's well worth the prices. After looking over the 30 page wine list, I had seared scallops with parma ham....WOW !!!! and then as a main course, lobster ravioli's in lemon sauce !!! WOW !!!!! and the house made chocolate's are out of this world !!!!! Next time I will I come here I am gonna have the chef's 8 course meal. How can you go wrong with everything being sooo good !!!! So this place is a PERFECT 10 out of 10 !!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT !!!!!! The Yuyuan Gardens and Bazaar is a popular tourist destination in Shanghai. After exploring the intricacies of the garden and haggling with the shop keepers for souvenirs, what better place to have lunch than the Lu Bo Lang Restaurant located in the Old Town God's Temple. This restaurant has played host to world leaders attending the APEX Summit, as well as President Bill Clinton and President Fidel Castro. As the restaurant is popular with tour groups, it is advisable to make reservations in advance or else plan to arrive at the restaurant before 12 noon.
Xiao Long Bao: This is a perennial Shanghainese favourite - steamed pork dumplings in a thin skin. Be careful to suck out the soup inside the dumpling before you chew on the dumpling as the soup can be hot. Fried eel in spicy sauce: Eel is a favourite dish in Jiangsu province. What is the best restaurant in Shanghai ??? Laris, T8, Jade 36 ????? T8 is without a doubt is in the running !!!! Located in the chic French Concession, this place is a bit hard to find, but once you find it it well worth the trip here !!!!!! Try to ask for a table downstairs where you can see the open kitchen work it's magic. The menu is short and sweet, the wine list long but simple. The price's are on par with other high end restaurants in Shanghai, and the food is to die for !!!!! Upstairs feels like a private club, less noise, and the service is perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT !!!! check out the web site for the full menu !!!!! Leave a Comment

It's located in the 87th floor in the Jinmao Tower, it's the highest bar in the world. It has a minimal expense $15 per person plus 15% tip (tip is not common in China). You can have a great view of the bund if you can get a right seat. BTW, try to be there before 10pm since all lights on Bund go off at 10pm to save energy. I was there at around 1am, there is no light on any buildings at all. It is sad. This is a tea house and not really a restaurant, but since it's not your regular bar I didn't put it with Nightlife. And moreover you can eat small things here also. I put this place as a Tip especially for all the Belgians, because here they have Duvel (one of the best Belgian beers). When we came in here, the first thing I saw was a display with the 'recommended beers'. They had four: one English beer and three (!) Belgian beers. Next to Duvel they also had Hoegaarden (which I don't like) and Chimay. Only one negative thing: they didn't have the correct glass for Duvel.

This restaurant, in downtown Shanghai near the Jingan Temple and Plaza 66 Shopping Center, serves great food. I think the Rendevous burger is the best in Shanghai, and it's only 48 yuan, as compaerd to burgers at other places that can be 80 yuan. The onion rings for 12 yuan is a bargain (if you can handle ultra unhealthy onion rings!). The restaurant is in an ally behind a Japanese restuarant, just off of Nanjing Road West. This places is never crowded. They now close each night at 5pm (this didn't use to be the case) Note this is a place to go for the food only. There is no music or great decor. But it's clean and comfortable, and stocks expat mags to read while you eat. This tip was created in June 2006. Update - as of November 2007, the Rendevous Burger has closed down (it's now a hair salon). I'm still hoping it pops up someplace else in SH, but for now it is gone.
The tuna melt, two pieces of wheat or rye bread topped with a ton of well mixed and seasoned tuna salad, with a slice of American cheese. 38 yuan and includes french fries. Probably the best tuna melt I've had anywhere in the world! Their business card says "Best Burger in Shanghai". I can't disagree Back to Crewrower's homepage Back to Shanghai page Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 1486 West Nan Jing Road #B, near Tong Ren RoadPhone: 21 5226-5353Directions: Walk east on Nanjing road from the Jingan Temple subway stop, you should come along the ally within 6 minutes, it'll be on your left. Xiao Nan Guo serves good Shanghainese food with reasonable price. There are a few branches in Shanghai, I have tried Hong Mei Lu branch, Nanjing Xi Lu (close to Hard Rock) and Pudong (close to Pearl TV Tower). The one at Nanjing Xi Lu offers a good view of the exibition center next to JC Mandarin. The Exibition center is with Russian archetecture.
Pork Trotter - One of the better pork trotter I tried. Wenzhou Crab - Raw crab soak in Chinese wine Deep Fried Snake - one of their signiture dishes.
