Great restaurant in a great posh location!

The ambiance is perfect, truly Shanghai. Even my Shanghainese friend swears that this is still the best local place to eat, at a great location - Xin Tian Di!

Favorite Dish: The Grandmother's Pork is a must have, it is slowly cooked, very tender, super tasty, and truly a taste of Shanghai. A gastronomic feast! We also have the bamboo shoots vegetable dish, and the wonderful dragon tea, remarkable!

Xin Ji Shi / Xin Tian Di Restaurant: Classic Shanghainese food at reasonable prices

Yummy!

Xin Ji Shi (New Jesse) has several branches throughout the city. The Xintiandi branch is popular and you may have to queue to get in during weekends and evenings. The menu is classic Shanghainese, with a particularly good selection of cold dishes. Food quality is excellent and portions good. Seating is spread over two floors - it is slightly crammed on the ground floor. Prices are slightly higher than similar establishments, but actually reasonable considering its Xintiandi location.

Favorite Dish: The classic dishes, e.g. kaofu, salty chicken and the "village" chicken soup.

This was a place we stumbled onto, and what a find. The restuarant has a great ambiance, and the service to match. The menu is tradtional yet creative with a stight modern twist. This is one of the must palces if you're travelling to Shanghai.

Favorite Dish: The smoke duck is a dish to remember.

In Shanghai chinese luch and diner come in a very elegant way. The table moves (I mean ... the top part) and taking food with the sticks is much more easier.
