This is a collection of discount shops that sell mainly clothes, bags, watches, and sporting goods. Most of the market shops sell fake goods but some appear to be factory outlets for good quality mechandise. With appropriate bargaining you can get items at a very reasonable cost.
What to buy: Watches, bags (luggage), clothing, sporting goods (especially golf clubs and tennis rackets), pens.
What to pay: That depends on the product. If they tell you it is "original quality" this should mean that the item is the real deal. An "A-grade fake" is made of the same materials as the original but not to the same production standards (e.g. seconds). A "fake" can be anything. As with anything verify their story by looking closely at the item. Bargain to pay 30-40% of the asking price.

You can get almost everything made in China. From table cloth, silk clothes and scarf, fake handbags and watches. Make sure you bargain as low as 70% from its price cause I am sure you are going to get what you want. If not just fake it as if your are not keen and intended to leave, I am sure they will call you and ask how much you want it for. That is the tricks.
What to buy: Look for jade, silk, saltwater pearls and sovenirs.
What to pay: 30% from opening price.

We used to go to Xiangyang Market to buy the good stuff from clothing to shoes and software or DVDs. After closure of Xiangyang Market, the merchants have to move to new locations. One of them is on the Nanjingxi lu No.580. 5 Floors of all stuff you need.
What to buy: all the stuff you want is here from clothing to software, from chinese traditona clothing to souvenirs. you name it.
What to pay: you got to know how to bargain. my suggestion go to carrefour around the corner and check for the prices of things without brand you want there and get back to the market

These are just funny pictures, no real tip. My mom and I were in hysterics when we read the label on this cereal box.
She said, “I will never eat anything with the word ‘bowel’ printed on the box.” We renamed it ‘Toby’s S**t Mix’ instead; thought it had a better ring to it… ha ha ha ha ha

I am not a fan of shopping but was transformed…I had fun shopping! ..That’s an amazing thing for me to admit.
This is an indoor multilevel swap meet mall. I suppose I shouldn’t say this is where you can buy fake name brands, but it is, so I’m saying it. Bargain, haggle, be firm, and of course, be polite.
I started off as rookie haggler but buy the end of the trip I felt like a pro at negotiation. Remember to have fun and know that when the store workers act like they are mad at you, they’re faking it (saving face is everything). Wink and smile.
Oh, they will touch you, so don’t be alarmed. It’s unsettling at first, but became kind of funny how much they invade your personal space. Different culture and social norms…gotta love it.
What to pay: I think you get what you pay for in that the quality isn’t so great. In the beginning, I was focused on what I wanted, but later I was more focused on the fun of haggling and getting a good deal. You must be willing to walk away and also know that once you buy something, don’t get hung up on whether or not you overpaid. If you bought it, then that is what its worth to you and its ok.

There you can buy a lot of local craft and excellent souvenirs for everybody. It is huge! You can easily get lost. Stop by the Tea House and eat in one of many of the restaurants located there. Be sure to go with plenty of time, comfortable shoes, many bags and a very big wallet because there are so much to see and to buy. Also take some time to enjoy the music and performance of local artists.
What to buy: White Rabbit candies, clothing, tea, etc. but don't you buy electronics. I bought a memory stick but it didn't work!
What to pay: as much as you want but don't forget to bargain!!!

Before Pudong was built, many expatriates located their offices and homes in Nanjing West Road (Nanjing Xi Lu) in the Jing'an district of Puxi. Today, cosmopolitan Nanjing West Road is home to some of the most famous and poshest shopping malls in Shanghai. Most international designer brands have at least one boutique somewhere here. Famous malls include the Shanghai Centre, Plaza 66 and Westgate Mall. It's sometimes hard to imagine who would shop regularly in these shops, but, hey, there must be enough filthy rich people in Shanghai!
What to buy: Designer stuff I suppose.
What to pay: Genuine designer items usually cost more in China than elsewhere because of tax.

The silk goods are so tempting to buy in China. At the Dung Wu Factory we see a demonstration on silk quilt making . Here the double cocoons are used . The fluffy balls are stretched and the light layers are used in making gorgeous duvets that are lightweight but warm . The prices are much less than we would see them in the USA. They sell all sizes from twin to king size and they are about $80.00-$120.00 .
What to buy: Beside the duvets they also sell silk sheets and pillow cases. So just when I had decided ..." I bought enough already !!" Who could resist!

At first as you pass through the dusty streets with cheap goods and food stalls and come into a beautiful narrow shop filled street, you think you are in a huge tourist trap. However the bargaining can be fierce and it is challenging but fun to sort out the fake from the real. There are however some shops selling only higher end products with no bargaining .The stores sell a everything including chopsticks, Chinese medicine, walking sticks, fans, silk , bamboo and rattan furniture, goldfish, pottery, plus much more
There are 2 starbucks here...why who knows.
