My son and I were in Beijing during the weekend of 13 September 2008. While touring the Drum and Bell Tower area, we spotted a small roast duck restaurant and decided to give it a try. I have been to the multi-storey roast duck restaurants in Qianmen where they bring in tourists by the bus load but this one was even better. We had half an order of roast duck, diced chicken with cashew nuts, steamed rice and a half liter bottle of Sprite, all for CNY 82 (around $13), definitely much cheaper than the Qianmen tourist restaurants where you also feel rushed. The restaurant is on the main street facing the Bell and Drum Towers. The waitresses are friendly and can speak basic English, the menu is both in Chinese and English.
Favorite Dish: roast duck of course!

Sorry, but I don't remember the name of the restaurant...lol. I do this tip just to let you know that you must try the Hot Pot Dinner!! It's a very healthy meal, there are many kinds of meat (don't ask what kind, just eat it! lol) and many vegetables. You just put your food in the 'pot' and let it cook! It's like a fondue. Delicious!

It did not taste as good as it looks. The buns are too chewy for my liking.
