The Chinese name is "Xuan Kong Si" which translates as the "Temple in Mid-air"
It is located about 70 km southeast of Datong. You can visit most parts of the temple complex, which are linked by wooden bridges and platforms after a quick hike up the side of the canyon.
The temple was originally built near the end of the Northern Wei dynasty, which makes it almost 1500 years old, but there have been plenty of recent renovations to keep it safe for modern tourism.
