Wang's Grand Courtyard, a superb architectural product of folk houses of north China in the Qing Dynasty, is situated in the bounds of Lingshi County, Shanxi Province. It is composed of the three great compounds of Gaojiaya, Red-gate Fortress and Xiaoyi Ancestral Temple. With the Fortresses built on hills and buildings and courts rising one higher than another, Wang's Grand Courtyard inherits the pattern of front halls and back bedrooms. The Courtyards are embellished with brick, wood and stone carvings, with rich themes and variable carving skills prsenting the artistic style of fineness and density of Qing Dynasty. As a model house of rich and powerful persons in the feudal age, Wang's Grand Courtyard is kept intact.
