It was said the female empire CiXi of Qing Dynasty had drunk the yellow wine of ChangShenYuan when she fled from Beijing when 8 country allies invaded.
So, the shop is very famous nowadays. I bought 2 bottle of 500 ml yellow wine at 32 RMB and a small bottle of 8 RMB which I drank before my night sleep. It made me feel warm inside and fell into sound sleep very quickly.

Address: Ming and Qing dynasty st. and ChengHuangMiao St.
Lots of papercuts and shadowplay puppets. Very detailed. I specially enjoyed the shadowplay puppets (most above RMB100). For paper cut, I suggest you bring back to Beijing for framing. :-)
There is another special goods at Pingyao: Beef (which I don't think it is nice, actually quite salty);
What to buy: shadowplay pupptes, papercut
What to pay: actually most shops sell such stuff

For some reason, there are a lot of shops making and selling shoes in Pingyao. They look kind of like slippers (indoor shoes) more than outdoor ones but nice all the same.
