Buses within Jiuzhaigou

Admissions includes free buses to the different areas. They are useful for many of the longer distances within the park. Busses are also available for shorter distances but walking may be a better option.

Queues are very rare in China and most people disregard queues when there is one. They had people to enforce many of the queues in the park so its not too bad.

Bus stops are on the map you receive when you get your ticket. Most people take a bus to then end then work their way back. You may want to do the oposite to try to excape the crowds.

Please rate this and others tips when you find them interesting, or useful, or you like the photos. :)

There are tours and busses from Chengdu.

Things change very fast in China so I provided and address to a comical web site about transportation to Jiuzhaigou. I googled (Jiuzhaigou chengdu bus) to find this one. It seems to have good info.

Please rate this and others tips when you find them interesting, or useful, or you like the pictures. :)

This driver has a VW Santana 3000. He is called Mr. Shen, originally a Tibetan. I actually prefer this driver as I feel he is more honest.

Typical day trip from Jiu Zhai Gou to Huang Long is CNY 400 - 600 in high season.

It is handy, also necessary to hire a TAXI to get around. Usually you agree a price with the driver up front and don't pay by meter.

Mr. Zhang is a very experienced driver, has a new VW Santana Vista, clean and big enough for a group of 4.

He is very nice and has a good sense of hummer. Attached is his name card.

Go by fight

It is wise to go to JiuZhaiGou by fight. Because the bus really takes too long, and the road condition is quite poor. I suggest departure from ChengDu (SiChuan) to HuangLong Airport.

Then visit the views in HuangLong first. Then take bus/taxi from HuangLong to JiuZhaiGou. The distance is about 100km.

To move inside the park there are some ecological buses, which run on gas and are named the Green Bus .
During high season, they move thousands of people very easy without jams and very comfortably
You leave from the visitors centre and they are stopping and picking up people at various spots of the park. At first you feel overwhelmed by the people, but little by little as you go inside the park people disappears ; in addition to that in one side of the river is the road and in the other there are trails where you can walk peacefully and safely. We were recommended that we should go first to the right end of the route and from there we should start walking and taking the bus when we were tired; we did more than 18 km , but the treck is very smooth, downhill and as you are thinking in the wonders you see , you forget the fatigue
The bus costs 90 Yuan each day, but somebody told us that in the low season price can be half and that that if you walk the first five kilometers , from there you can take buses free , without paying

We didn´t know how to go to Huang long from Jiuzhai gou and we were worried as there were a lot of people and the communication it was not easy because we didn´t find English speakers ( Not even in the Sheraton ) .
At the end we met a Hong Kong couple , that helped us a lot and they were so nice that they allowed us to share the taxi with them , to go to Huang Long and at the end of the day to the SongPan airport ( It takes 2,5 hours to go and we paid for the taxi 225 x 2 Yuan )

go by air is more convenient and safe

i have to correct that there is no train between jiuzhaigou and chengdu; only by bus or air.

however, you have to get ready for the delay if you take the plane; there are 2 routes to jiuzhaigou from chengdu, the usually one is chengdu-dujiangyan-yingxiu-wenchuan-maoxian-songpan-chuanzhusi-jiuzhaigou, another is via mianyan city- so called east route; the former with a lot of sightseeing but the latter is much safer.

you may take the bus at xinnanmen station from chengdu to jiuzhaigou daily or 3 buses available for jiuzhaigou at chadianzi bus station in the west of chengdu.

from jiuhuang airport to national park, you may either take the shuttle bus or taxi. there's no schedule for the shuttle which means usually you have to wait for full seated before departure. for taxi, it may cost you rmb 300.

Experience on bus riding and flight

Die Xi Lake(Haizi),the earthquake relic on the way

There are more than 10 scheduled flights during the peak season between Chengdu(Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport) and Jiuzhaigou(Jiuhuang Airport).

Full fare for economic class excludes taxes and fees is RMB980, 45 minutes jouney makes your trip to Jiuzhaigou more comfotable and convenient, although you have to spend another 2-2.5 hours on the way between Jiuhuang Airport to Jiuzhaigou National Park, or 1-1.5 hours between airport to Huanglong.

However, due to the climate in Jiuhuang area, most of the flights usually do not take off on time and you have to get ready for it in advance.

Taking an early morning flight on the day with sunshine is amazing! Gorgeous view while flying between golden mountains.

After landing at Jiuhuang Airport, you may go to Jiuzhaigou either by airport shuttle or by taxi.

Airport shuttle: no regular shedule and you may wait for half hour on your seat.

Fare: RMB90.00 Airport---Huanglong---Jiuzhaigou

Duration: Jiuhuang Airport--Huanglong 1.5 hours
Huanglong--Jiuzhaigou 3 hours
Jiuhuang Airport--Jiuzhaigou 2.5 hours

Taxi(or mini van):

Jiuhuang Airport--Huanglong--Jiuzhaigou: RMB300.00
Jiuhuang Airport--Jiuzhaigou: RMB200.00

Drivers always ask for more especially you look like a rich,or a foreigner.

Chengdu--Jiuzhaigou by bus:

Chengdu--Dujiangyan--Yinxiu--Wenchuan--Maoxian--Songpan--Chuanzusi--Jiuzhaigou

8-9 hours ride makes a person exhausted. However, it goes along Minjiang(River), with amazing scenery especially in the autumn.

Avoid or be aware to take a ride in rainny season in the summer, for collapse and land slide happen regularly after the rain.

Where to take your bus from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou?

a.Chengdu Tourist Transportation & Service Center(Former Xin Nan Men Bus Station)

Schedule: 8:00am daily

Fare: RMB108.00 or RMB121.00 depends on bus

b.Chengdu Cha Dian Zi Bus Station(Former Xi Men Bus Station)

Schedule: 8:40am daily

Fare: RMB92.00
