Tourists outside Sichuan Province can take plane or train to come to Chengdu first and then to arrive at the entrance to Jiuzhaigou either by joining in the trip organized by tourism agencies or by taking bus at the Xinnanmen Bus Station or Ximen Bus Station.
There are two lines from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou:
Line One: Chengdu-Dujiangyan-Wenchuan-Maoxian-Songpan-Jiuzhaigou. 435km in total and all being asphalt highway. (We went to Jiuzhaigou via this line. There were too many turnings at the last 150km. So you need an experienced driver and much more patience. ^_^ )
Line Two: Chengdu-Wenchuan-Lixian-grassland (hongyuan, ruoergai)-Chuanzhu Temple-Jiuzhaigou, 792km in total and most part being asphalt highway, small part being smooth ordinary highway.
PS: The Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong Airport will open to traffic in 2003. Maybe i will miss the long way journey to Jiuzhaigou by bus next time. :)

In the near future, there will be an airport at the town of Songpan so that tourists can fly in directly. Now, the only way in is by a long journey through the mountains which some people may find it too tough.

You can tour Jiuzhaigou Via the grassland. On the way, you can sightsee many splendid views of the grassland and feel the exotic custom of the Tibetan-Qiang people. The first bend of the Yellow River, the flowery lakes, The Re'er grassland, the Moon Beach, the red Leaves of Miyaluo, the Qiang villages of Taoping.... all these beautiful natural and humanistic landscapes will deeply impress you.
