Admissions includes free buses to the different areas. They are useful for many of the longer distances within the park. Busses are also available for shorter distances but walking may be a better option.
Queues are very rare in China and most people disregard queues when there is one. They had people to enforce many of the queues in the park so its not too bad.
Bus stops are on the map you receive when you get your ticket. Most people take a bus to then end then work their way back. You may want to do the oposite to try to excape the crowds.

There are more than 10 scheduled flights during the peak season between Chengdu(Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport) and Jiuzhaigou(Jiuhuang Airport).
Full fare for economic class excludes taxes and fees is RMB980, 45 minutes jouney makes your trip to Jiuzhaigou more comfotable and convenient, although you have to spend another 2-2.5 hours on the way between Jiuhuang Airport to Jiuzhaigou National Park, or 1-1.5 hours between airport to Huanglong.
However, due to the climate in Jiuhuang area, most of the flights usually do not take off on time and you have to get ready for it in advance.
Taking an early morning flight on the day with sunshine is amazing! Gorgeous view while flying between golden mountains.
After landing at Jiuhuang Airport, you may go to Jiuzhaigou either by airport shuttle or by taxi.
Airport shuttle: no regular shedule and you may wait for half hour on your seat.
Fare: RMB90.00 Airport---Huanglong---Jiuzhaigou

Avoid or be aware to take a ride in rainny season in the summer, for collapse and land slide happen regularly after the rain.

Things change very fast in China so I provided and address to a comical web site about transportation to Jiuzhaigou. I googled (Jiuzhaigou chengdu bus) to find this one. It seems to have good info.
Please rate this and others tips when you find them interesting, or useful, or you like the pictures. :)
Tourists outside Sichuan Province can take plane or train to come to Chengdu first and then to arrive at the entrance to Jiuzhaigou either by joining in the trip organized by tourism agencies or by taking bus at the Xinnanmen Bus Station or Ximen Bus Station.
There are two lines from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou:
Line One: Chengdu-Dujiangyan-Wenchuan-Maoxian-Songpan-Jiuzhaigou. 435km in total and all being asphalt highway. (We went to Jiuzhaigou via this line. There were too many turnings at the last 150km. So you need an experienced driver and much more patience. ^_^ )
Line Two: Chengdu-Wenchuan-Lixian-grassland (hongyuan, ruoergai)-Chuanzhu Temple-Jiuzhaigou, 792km in total and most part being asphalt highway, small part being smooth ordinary highway.
PS: The Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong Airport will open to traffic in 2003. Maybe i will miss the long way journey to Jiuzhaigou by bus next time. :)
To move inside the park there are some ecological buses, which run on gas and are named the Green Bus .
During high season, they move thousands of people very easy without jams and very comfortably
You leave from the visitors centre and they are stopping and picking up people at various spots of the park. At first you feel overwhelmed by the people, but little by little as you go inside the park people disappears ; in addition to that in one side of the river is the road and in the other there are trails where you can walk peacefully and safely. We were recommended that we should go first to the right end of the route and from there we should start walking and taking the bus when we were tired; we did more than 18 km , but the treck is very smooth, downhill and as you are thinking in the wonders you see , you forget the fatigue
The bus costs 90 Yuan each day, but somebody told us that in the low season price can be half and that that if you walk the first five kilometers , from there you can take buses free , without paying
If you are flying to Jiuzhaigou, at the airport, save $$ by taking the airport shuttle. This is basically a 8-10 seater bus that will drop passengers at each accommodation/hotel. Cost only RMB45.00 per person. The journey to town is about 1.75-2hours due to the winding roads leading out from the airport and into town. Quite scenic too, I must say.
When you need to get back to the airport, you can also try the same shuttle service, make sure you get their name card+address on the earlier trip or to book ahead. If they are not going out on your choice of date/time, you can also book a taxi to the airport (not the yellow taxis, they charge higher). Use the one found on the same premise of the the Park entrance on the right hand side, next to the film processing centre. You will find this agency also does flight bookings online on-the-spot for you. Their fare is RMB180 per cab. They will come and pick you at your hotel at your choice of date/time. (Er, no direct public bus service that leaves for the airport from town, ok)
You can tour Jiuzhaigou Via the grassland. On the way, you can sightsee many splendid views of the grassland and feel the exotic custom of the Tibetan-Qiang people. The first bend of the Yellow River, the flowery lakes, The Re'er grassland, the Moon Beach, the red Leaves of Miyaluo, the Qiang villages of Taoping.... all these beautiful natural and humanistic landscapes will deeply impress you.
It is wise to go to JiuZhaiGou by fight. Because the bus really takes too long, and the road condition is quite poor. I suggest departure from ChengDu (SiChuan) to HuangLong Airport.
Then visit the views in HuangLong first. Then take bus/taxi from HuangLong to JiuZhaiGou. The distance is about 100km.
There is a new airport now in Juizhaigou. No need for a two days busride anymore! But the airport also meens, that there are many more tourists now coming to Jiuzhaigou. Though I can understand, that many people want to see the beautiful landscape, I also think, that too many people means, that the landscape is not as beautiful anymore.
You can go to Jiuzhai Gou from Chengdu by bus , there are 580 kilometers and it takes eleven or twelve hours.
We decided to go by plane from Xian to Jiuzhaigou/Huanglong airport located in Chuanzhusi Town and we had the first big impression already upon arrival because the airport is surrounded by snowcapped mountains and at a height of 3.500m.
To reach the park you must travel 80 kms , so we took a taxi in the airport ,that leaves as soon as they fill the eight or nine seats of the mini bus and it costs 45 Yuan per person
When you reach Jiuzhai Gou they leave you in the hotel you have reserved . In our case we had not any reservation , so we saw the impressed face of the the driver and all the passengers . On this case the Guardian Angels did their job and with the help of the driver and a Chinese American traveler ( latter a friend ) the problem was solved
i have to correct that there is no train between jiuzhaigou and chengdu; only by bus or air.
however, you have to get ready for the delay if you take the plane; there are 2 routes to jiuzhaigou from chengdu, the usually one is chengdu-dujiangyan-yingxiu-wenchuan-maoxian-songpan-chuanzhusi-jiuzhaigou, another is via mianyan city- so called east route; the former with a lot of sightseeing but the latter is much safer.
you may take the bus at xinnanmen station from chengdu to jiuzhaigou daily or 3 buses available for jiuzhaigou at chadianzi bus station in the west of chengdu.
from jiuhuang airport to national park, you may either take the shuttle bus or taxi. there's no schedule for the shuttle which means usually you have to wait for full seated before departure. for taxi, it may cost you rmb 300.
A day pass costs RMB90 available at the ticket vendor. You may get off or get on any shuttle at any stop inside the park.
It will be painful to most of visitors who choose to walk instead of purchasing a bus pass, a long way to walk before reaching the first scenery spot.
YOu can take an internal flight from Chengdu to JiuZhaoGou by Air China. It is a much faster way then taking a coach as it save alot of the time. It take only 30min to reach JiuZhaoGou compared to 8hrs by coach and the flight is more confortable. Taking coach can be tiring as the road is not very smooth but a good point is you can see alot of beautiful sight along the way.
Either fly an hour or so from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou or put up with a crazy 8 hour drive or more over treacherous gorges and hairpin routes. For the best of both worlds, we flew there and took an overnight drive back to Chengdu. The drive back was worth it for it's magnificent views of natural dams and lakes caused by a major earthquake in the 30s.
In the near future, there will be an airport at the town of Songpan so that tourists can fly in directly. Now, the only way in is by a long journey through the mountains which some people may find it too tough.
