This is a great place to start your tour of Tianjin. It is a major pedestrian shopping street together Heping street.
There are major deparment stalls especially at its corner with Nanjing Lu where many bus lines ply.
It is easy access to Xikai Church and Gou Bu Li original restaurant. You see local Tianjingers as well Chinese tourists shopping or finding a place to have lunch or a quick snack. There is no shade and so can be hot. So cool off by going into the airconditioned shops now and then.

It is a beautiful church built by French Jesuit missionary in the 190s.
Located at the end of pedestrian mall street, you can see it from a distance. There is a wonderful fountain in front of the church but across the road.
There are 4 Chinese characters welcoming everyone to "ome in for a look"
It still an active church and worth going in for a look. One of the legacies of Western Allied forces occupying in China at the beginning of the 20th century until World War 2.

Through recommendation by our tour guide, we visited this shop where you can find a huge varieties of clay figurines. Most of them are quite affordable. I bought one ( the one shown here) which is the clay figurine of "Hua(1) Mu(2) Lan(2)" to add some colours to my home.

Not sure why this is called the "Food Street" when it seems to be a "Shopping Complex" to me. Before coming to the food street, I thought that it will be those kind whereby you can find hot piping snacks as you walk along the street, and you can eat and sample food along the way. The tour guide brought us to a local shop in the complex where you can find many local snacks such as the fried dough twist (Mahua), nuts at a very cheap price. My mum bought 1 huge packet of sunflower seeds and it cost only RMB 10. I bought some nice snacks here too. Basically, these local stores that sell snacks can be found on ground floor at the sides of the complex. On the second level, you can find mostly the restaurants.

This was our first stop in Tianjin. The whole place is like an ancient chinese city. You can find many small store selling local crafts, snacks, antiques, souvenirs etc. Some of the shops are not opened yet because we were there very early in the morning. Nevertheless, this is a good place to visit in Tianjin.

Tienjin is a grey place, and the only colour I found is in Culture Street. This makes a great visit, and is very busy at the weekends.
Plenty of stalls selling reproduction artifacts, plus shops selling porcelin, paintings and pretty things.
There is also a great temple at one end that is worth a visit.

Visiting a real Chinese tea house is an interesting thing to do. Your group will sit closely together while a waitress(cha shi) does a long but interesting presentation on how to prepare, smell, and taste the tea.

This is one of the tallest towers in the world. It's a little pricy to go up but the rotating view from the top is interesting enough. You can't really appreciate how large this sity of some 10 million people is until you look at it from this far up and see it stretching on forever. This is also the only place I found Tianjin postcards...they were quite tacky ones of the tower.
