In the summer (mid June- August), the houses will be surrounded by fields bright green with nearly ripe barley, the basic food for Tibetans.

Some of the mysteries of life... & Tibet has an abundance of them. Survival of the plants, the strong religious faith, the survival of mankind under such harsh conditions & high radiation, etc...

As with Egypt, the presence of river was the determining factor in the birth of the Tibetan Civilization. In the case of Tibet, it's the Brahmaputra.

Many of these mountains have never seen the footprints of man. Aren't we lucky to have the airplane & camera & now the web?!?!?!Sometimes, I really am thankful I live in this century. :)
