Mad Yak: Butter Tea
This restaurant serves Tibetan & Chinese buffet with a cultural show included after dinner. What is interesting though is my first taste of butter tea. Yep, butter tea, ie. tea salted with butter. Ever tried that? It's a local Tibetan drink. To me, it taste somewhat like milk with a little salt in it. Anyhow, as sugar is virtually absent in the Tibetan daily life, tea is given energy content by dissolving butter & mixing salt in the local churn.Another type of typical Tibetan drink is the Chang. It is a thirst-quenching & nourishing drink usually used in rituals. Devotees will dip the ring finger of the right hand & spray it up while reciting a mantra before drinking Chang.
