Buses leave for Korla, Urumqi, Charklik (Ruoqiang), Hotan (the furthest west you can go from here along the South Silk Road), Yutian, Niya (Minfeng) etc. The prices vary according to what kind of bus happens to be going that day.
Timings (Beijing time) listed are what I found on a website...
- To Urumqi (twice weekly): Tue 1000, Fri 1800.
- To Korla (daily): 1000, 1400, 1700, 1800.
- To Yutian (4 times weekly): Mon/Tue/Sat 1800, Fri 1000.
- To Charklik/Ruoqiang (4 times weekly): Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat 1000.
Our bus to Hotan (daily) left at 1000, 92.5 RMB. Stopped at quite a few places enroute and no one seems to be any hurry. And no one seemed to mind that the aircon wasn't turned on most of the time! :( IIRC we stopped at Yutian for lunch around 1400. Reached Hotan at 1830 but I think it was the east bus station, where we had to catch a 5 RMB taxi ride to the main one.
Another traveller reported about buses to Korla, via Charklik (Ruoqiang). These depart at 0900 (1000 in winter) and 1300 (1400 in winter); luxury aircon seat buses cost 81 RMB. Some basic sleeper buses depart at 1800 and 2000 (1900 in winter); 76/83 RMB for upper/lower bunk.
