I don't know about you, but being a foreigner I love coffee. I also love it when I find a place that serves delicious, Yunnan Coffee. At Tower Cafe, I stumbled upon a great Americano. The owners told me they brew Hani Coffee. You can buy bags of it in the store or check out their website (hanicoffee.com). This company not only has great coffee but helps out local Chinese. Tower Cafe also had a great breakfast to go with the best coffee I have had in China. Try it out!
Favorite Dish: Cafe Americano!

The German Bakery 88 in Dali is one of the best bakeries I've come upon in my travels around the world. Karine, the German Baker began selling loaves of bread out of a house equipped with ovens in 2006, and eventually grew into her own place on Bo Ai Lu.
Bakery 88 is simple, neat and charming, by far the best breakfast option in Dali.
Breads are fresh baked daily, all day long, and include: Walnut, whole wheat, ciabatta, baguettes, bagels, multi-grain and more.
Pastries from cheesecake to Black Forest, rugula, cookies and much more. Lots of baked goodies to choose from!
Coffees include Gourmet coffee that Karine imports directly from Laos, as well as Yunnan coffee. Coffees are offered either espresso style or French press.
Fresh squeezed juices are available. Give me mango any day!
Imported cheeses including Brie, Camembert, Philly Cream Cheese (for the bagels!), Blue Cheese, Swiss Cheese, and more.
Sandwiches are a great lunch choice: Baba ganoush, chicken breast, a la carte.
Set breakfasts include the lite option of toasted bread, butter, fruit and coffee; and continental including the above plus two eggs of your choice and fruit juice.
For special occasions, Bakery 88 can bake you a cake (birthday, wedding, etc.) with one to two days advance notice. I did bring a customer there one morning, and they were able to provide a lovely chocolate birthday cake for a party that same evening.
Favorite Dish: I actually have a few favorites. The first is an a la carte sandwich that I put together myself:
Bacon Bagel Brie. With a slice of tomato... heavenly combination.
Camembert and Italian Salami on Ciabatta is also nice. A la carte as well.
Karine invited me to try out her very first egg omelet. I asked what she recommended, and she explained that her philosophy of omelets is to keep it simple, just egg and cheese. She recommended blue cheese. The omelet was perfect! The egg was completely flat, uniform yellow color, and the cheese gave it just the right flavor, without overpowering it. And a touch of black pepper...
As I was leaving, Karine asked me how the omelet was, so I told her how much I had enjoyed it. She commented that the key was in the eggs. Previously, I had thought one egg is as good as the next. But Karine explained to me that she personally does quality control on the local farmers to ensure they feed their chickens properly, both quantity and quality of food. It makes a difference, especially in China!

Came here for a western breakfast on each of the two mornings that I stayed in Dali and this place is a good choice with a nice atmosphere etc. There's many places in nearby Foreigner Street that all do similar things so check them out for price etc before deciding where to eat.

This small restaurant is run by a young couple since September 2007 where I had a good sweet and sour pork and egg fried rice for RMB33. The couple are very nice and friendly and speak very good English plus they have a very cute dog! The restaurant doubles up as an internet cafe where you can browse the internet from a lap-top plus they have a DVD area upstairs.

When we were visiting the ChongsHeng temple , near 11 o'clock in the morning , we saw a great movement of monks, who were all with happiness face and very talkative, so we went to see what was happening and we saw that they were having lunch in the refectory.
When they finished , people started to come in and to sit on the tables , where they served them the food that the monks had left
We sat down and they served us a very good vegetarian meal that we ended up with a soup that was just pouring hot water into the bowl that we had eaten vegetables.
You only pay what you want
Apart from good eating we had a good fun as people it was very nice

At the entrance of the restaurants you can find a selection of their best and most desirable products to pick and so you may get the menu you like , just pòinting what you want
The range is very large , as you can see:
Rose Petalls , mushrooms, Lake seaweed , soybeans sprouts and a lot of vegetables, most known but there are others that are completely unknownfor us

This is a really nice cafè and restaurant in the old town.
It's not in the foreigner street so it's not that crowded and you can enjoy your meal or your drink while giving a look at their many travel books and magazines.
Favorite Dish: They serve a really good espresso.

Small restaurant huge menu with tibetan, chinese and western food, this is actually the only restaurant where, when I asked to eat something not spicy, I got served something not spicy at all.
Favorite Dish: Yak deep fried meat, it's great but just a bit heavy to digest.
