    Luxurious bus to Dali

by hooiluangoh Updated Dec 10, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you can love smoking and spitting on the bus, then purchase this ticket for a low 65 yuan. If you can't do those, then this luxurious big bus (45 seaters) may be what you want for 105 yuan.

The journey takes about 7 hours from Kunming to Dali terminal, from which you take a public bus for 1 yuan (sorry forgot the bus route number, but you can ask the bus attendant) into Dali Old Town.

The bus has an built-in toilet but also makes 2 brief stops on the way for you to buy some snacks. Bottled mineral water is provided in the beginning of the journey by the attendant, who accompanies the travellers all the way.

The 7-hour journey is mainly due to one part of the highway is under construction. Hence the bus has to take the old windy scenic road for about 4 hours. Otherwise the journey should have been about 4.5 hours.

Will update the tel number for enquiry later....

    Public transport, Dali, Yunnan

The public transport in Dali consist mainly of pony carts. It is also very easy to rent a bicycle, but remember: this is a town mostly for walking.
