If you're travelling to other parts of Xixuanbanna (exp. Meng La, Mong La, Meng Hai .... ) from Jinghong you have to go to the Banna bus station which is in centre of city. You need to buy ticket at the counter before you board on the mini bus. Buses are okay, some are bit more tired than other and don't get overcrowded because of frequent departures; but once they leave city they will pick passengers along the way so it's good to have your own seat.
Problem occurs if you don't like smoking as few people will always smoke on these buses and not to mention those who will vomit during ride - that's why there are always plastic bags in these buses. Locals are not used to travel often and roads are paved but winding.

Sara, the manageress of this travel cafe, and her assistant Eve were most helpful in making our visit to Jinhong interesting and most pleasant, and also in organizing onward travel by air to Lijiang.

The sleeper bus to Kunming took 9 hours and cost 197RMB. It takes you to the South Bus Station, which is pretty far from downtown.

The sleeper bus to Lijiang takes 19 hours. It cost 247RMB. Although it might take less, I think we hit a lot of traffic.
