On the road north of Puzhehei, there are many places where potters work with the rich clay from the fields.
I originally thought that these were pots - for plants - but friends say that they are probably not. Nobody knows what they are for. Any ideas?

6) Construct large shopping malls, and use tiles creatively.
This effect can be enhanced by keeping the rents high enough to deter traders from moving in. A second, more cunning trick, is to make sure that not one shop sells any locally made produce or handicrafts. Tourists have not come all the way from Europe or the USA or Beijing to see scruffy old ethnic costumes or fabrics or handicrafts; they prefer to see and buy cheap mass-produced gimmicks, jeans and polyester polo shirts because these are not available at home.

5) Find a scenic creek and fill it with concrete or start construction of a modern building. The effect is heightened if you go bankrupt halfway through the building process.
Tourists are particularly keen to see building sites, especially when they use materials not normally found in the area.

4) Find the most scenic viewpoint in the area and erect huge advertising hoardings. It is preferable if the billboard advertises hotels that are 100 metres away at the end of the same road and visible from the same position.

3) Ensure that local vegetation and plants are removed, and replace them with landscaping and rocks. Be sure to include species that are not adapted to local climatic conditions to ensure that chic 'dead' look after a few months. (This can be hastened by not watering them if you are short of money)

2) Find a village constructed almost entirely in the local style with local materials and build an ostentatious, gaudy building that looks like a dog's bum with a hat on.
Tourists are particularly attracted to crap architecture!
