Luggage and bags: HUGE, LIGHT and DURABLE. You can buy a lot of things in Kunming and completely go overboard your baggage allowance.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Socks and walking shoes, rain gear.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Your contact lens disinfectant. If you are a smoker, it's cheaper to buy your cigarettes overseas (max 2 cartons)
Photo Equipment: Your batteries.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: umbrella and raincoat. Kunming's rainy season starts from April and ends only in Oct.
Kunming can be cold when it rains. And it is normal to have rain, sunshine, rain all within a day.
So prepare to wear layers of clothing, so you can peel off or put on depending on the temperature.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The average temperature is 15 degrees Celsius, but it will suddenly drop down to only 5 degrees when it rains. Jacket or sweater should be put in the packing list.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Unless rainning, the sun shines strongly enough to cause skin damage. Bring anything that could moisturize the skin and block sun ray.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you are going in the winter, remember to bring many layers of clothing. The temperature varies a great deal within the day & one can in fact experience the 4 seasons on the same day!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: The photo is that of the Red Cross Pharmacy in Lijiang area. Chinese medicine can be great though at times it takes a longer period for them to be effective. So, may I suggest bringing along your own medical supplies for the common colds & stomach flu.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: It rains all the time in Kunming, or at least while I was there :P So remember to bring a poncho everywhere you go, especially to the outskirts! And when it rains, it's cold!

Luggage and bags: Kunming is a good place for shopping. There are many shops selling some local made products, so I think it's time to do some packing work.
