    Because of Expo '99, much of Kunming has been rebuilt, so as you're wandering the streets or shopping for tea, etc., keep an eye out for buildings that have avoided the demolition ball.

    120km SE of Kunming - accessible by train - is a 80 hectre park of limestone formations eroded over the millennia by wind and water.

    I was told that if I touched the hat of our tour guide I would not be allowed to leave and would have to marry her.

    Kunming Lake

    A ferry ride touring around the Kunming Lake takes nearly 45 minutes, which charges 6 RMB each person. Pier for ferry steamer is next to the another tourist attraction "Ta Guam Lou".

    Buhda's Holly Land

    The arch is the entrance to the Buhda's holly land. Views from the roadway are spectacular, but people coming here should be with a perfect sense of respect.

    Dragon Gate

    It's an amazing place to go, built upon the cliff of Mount West. Downbelow is the famous Kunming Lake.
    Take a taxi and heading direct to the top of the mountain. It's about half an hour drive.

    Tour guides dressed in traditional costume awaiting for business. These guides can be hired for a minimal sum & they'll guide you in the caves, thus giving you a more indepth caving experience.

    Originally named Immortal cave, this cave of fairies/goddess is well developed with exquisite stalactites & thus named because it looks like fairies welcoming guests.

    Two of the few historic sites within the city are the East and West pagodas. Not far from the center, they are hard to find without a map. In the picture, the West pagoda.
