Favorite thing: This is one of the meeting spots of many tourists & locals. Right at the transition from New Town to Old Town, the waterwheel was constructed as a reminder of the water-mills used by the Naxi tribe in the past.

Favorite thing: There are many signs and maps around town that, while they aren't the most helpful, can give you an idea where you are if you feel lost. The main attractions are sign-posted.

Favorite thing: There is a bathroom between Lijiang and Tiger Leaping Gorge that costs 1 yuan to use...more expensive than many.

Favorite thing: If you need money, right on the main square in town is a nice, convenient ATM. I don't know if it's UnionPay (for Chinese only) or if it can accept major credit and debit cards, but it's there.

Favorite thing: Having a boater row you out in the middle of Lashilake while you photograph the scenary and the flying Ruddy Shelducks. It's bloody idyllic.

Favorite thing: Horse-riding with a local, high on top of a hill near Lashihai while she yodeled. It was nothing but the Yunnanese blue sky and grass beneath us.
