Favorite thing: Lijiang is UNESCO World Heritage Town since 1999. The well preserved Oldtown with the narrow streets, old houses and many street cafes is definitively worth a visit.

Favorite thing: Ancient Town of Lijiang has been converted into a tourist attraction and even its ATM terminals have been fancied up and fits with the decor of the whole town.

Favorite thing: Due to its proximity of the legendary "Shangri-La" inspired by an English novel, Lijiang named one of its main streets Shangri-La Road.

Favorite thing: Lijiang is located in a valley, and thus the fertile plain can be used for agriculture. Terraced fields can be seen from the airport into the city of Lijiang.

Fondest memory: A group of old men chatting and relaxing under a big tree in DongDa Street. Beacuse of the dry weather and strong sunlight, most Yunnan people have tan skin and rickles on their faces.

Favorite thing: Lijiang is a great place to watch people, for hiking and just hanging around. Just opposite of the bus station is this Mao-Statue which is home for a lot of doves.
Fondest memory: I miss most the excellent Naxi-food
