Most folks use Lijiang as a base before proceeding to Qiaotou to do the greatest hike in China. Set aside at least 2-3 days to do the hike in Tiger Leaping Gorge and avoid the rainy season at all costs.
Equipment: You need to have really good gore tex boots and a hiking stick for this activity. The rocks there can be bloody slippery after a rain and a missed step can be fatal.

Jin Sha River divide Yu Long Snow Mountain and Ha Ba Snow Mountain, and become the world deepest gorge - Tiger Leaping Gorge, it located on 18 Km far from Lijiang Old Town.
Spend two day one night to hiking, u can stay on Halfway guesthouse or Tea Horse guesthouse , for one night rest, leave on next day.
Equipment: Small bag, (Big bag can leave on the gorge entrance, RMB10 for storage fees.)

Hiking in this beautiful landscape is an absolute must! Specially the old trading paths along Tiger Leaping Gorge are ideal for hiking. It is possible to hike several days along the Gorge with the possibility to stay over night.
