It is a must in Lijiang. We that are not in very good physical condition, we were satisfied visiting the first Gorge but those who are in better conditions can make the mythical route, which lasts two or three days, trekking by the edge of the Gorge
It is one of the deepest gorges in the world, measuring 16 km. long and the height from the Jinsha River to the summit of the mountain is 3,900 m
To reach the first gorge, we went in a taxi ( 60 kms from Lijiang) that left us in the parking lot, and from here you can walk 2.5 miles, along a path that has been dug into the rock that goes through narrow passageways and tunnels to the closest part of the gorge
The origin of the name of theTiger Leaping is that legends say that when some hunters were chasing a tiger by the mountains, he jumped to escape across the river in the narrowest area
We met there two Parisiens that made us very a pleasant treck

Tu decides si buscas paz y tranquilidad o jolgorio y bullicio

Walking on the streets only has one problem and is that "there are many Chinese in China."
You have to find quiet hours , the narrow streets that does not pass a lot of people to enjoy moving around the city that is full of clothing stores, souvenirs , antiques and meals as well as Chinese restaurants of all categories , with terraces above the channels or in the interior of the wooden houses with a noisy music
You decide if you search for peace and tranquility or if you prefer noise and bustle

A story was told of how one monk watered a tree near a monastery. If he were caught they would have executed him. The goal of the Cultural Revolution was to eliminate all remnants of the old culture (including old trees) and bring on the "new" culture
In Yufeng Monastery located in the north of Lijiang Town was planted with a camellia tree which is praised to be the "First Tree Under Heaven" and the "King of the World's Camellias". This is the world-famous Ten-Thousand-Flower Camellia. Planted during the reign of Emperor Chenghua of the Ming Dynasty, the camellia tree measures 3 meters in height and 30 centimetres in tree-trunk diameter. The tree is the witness of the vicissitudes of over 500 years. Every year at the Beginning of Spring, about 10 thousand scarlet camellia flowers bloom amongst the verdure leaves. Each of the flowers would be the size of a 10-inch plate, and would keep in full bloom for 100 days. Two gigantic roots of the tree interweave into the shape of a silk-tree flower, thus showing a most magnificent form. What is more remarkable, the flowers bloom from the same tree show diversified colours and unequal number of petals. Therefore, the tree well deserves its name "King of the Camellia Trees".
As we went in Autumn , we ought to imagine the flowers

The village of Baisha is famous for its frescoes and by Dr. Ho
It is a very peculiar man, with his white coat, his wool hat, his beard and his smile and greets everyone who visits Baisha and he tells everybody his history and successes with the Traditional Medicine with which he cured some cases of cancer.
He always asks you if can he help with something, and once he makes the diagnosis he prepares a masterful recipe with all the herbs that are in his house

Dr Ho belongs to the ethnic Naxi and numerous articles have been written in National Geographic and other magazines. Dr. Ho is doctorated in physics but he always practised the medicine. When he finished his studies he suffered a serious illness and he had to return to his hometown where he studied traditional medicine and cured himself. He decided to stay there to live and cooperated in the investigation of a clinic in Baisha. he is yet getting the main ingredients for his recipes from his garden and the countryside. One of the features of the career of Dr. Ho, is that he has never charged for their consultations. Whenever he did so selflessly accepting only donations or volunteers. Since then, at his nearly 90 years , he is still living in his native Baisha with his wife, his clinic and his garden.

It is interesting to see in Lijiang, a scaled down version of "Forbidden City." Some parts of it have previously been destroyed due to the wars during the Qing Dynasty and Cultural Revolution. Today, what you can see will be a combination of old and reconstructed structures. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit.
