I took an air-con express bus from Lijiang to Kunming. 10 hours. RMB152 including set lunch. The bus is very good, with TV and toilet inside, pretty fast and smooth.

There is airline service to Kunming now. And Dali is about 3 hours away by mini-bus.

Remember this place, just opposite, you can find long distance bus station as well as mini-buses going to YuLong Mountain. You can also rent 2-seated bicycle here next to the plaza.
