The ferry's the only way to get across the river without swimming or driving out of your way.
It costs about 1.5 yuan for a person, 3 yuan for a motorcycle and a few more for a car. (There is a ferry to take a car over.)
Two boats operate. I don't know their schedules.

Across the narrow stretch of the brown Mekong lies both banana and rubber plantations. Take the road that heads up the hill, straight up from the landing, and follow it out into the countryside. I’m sure if you have time you can get to more interesting places. With the time we had, we walked out for about a half hour, coming to a large pile of trash and the aforementioned plantations.
