Jinuo is about 20km southeast of Mengyang. It's a minority village that's been culturally leveled and rebuilt as a tourist village to show tourists what real (not quite) Jinuo minority life is like. For the happy (read: staggering) price of 130 yuan, you, too, can accompany a bull-horn-toting, "coolly-receptive" (as the LP says), locally dressed (disregard the jeans and modern shoes) real Jinuo minorty tour guide to take you through the village. (Moo.)
Sick. Too many caveats!
I want a real village, with real people living a real life. Apparently, that's just not done here. So we went to Menglun, which is much better.
We didn't go in- just took a few shots of the front facade, used their nice, clean (open-to-the-others-in-the-bathroom) trough toilets, stood around the parking lot trying to explain to our driver what we were looking for, (and it wasn't the money that deterredus) and left. I think our guide thought we were a bit loco...
Excuse us for wanting a real place. :)

Also called Xiangxing Rongshu, this Tree Shaped Banyan Tree (no, that's not a typo) looks nothing like an elephant, especially with all the other trees and buildings crowding around it.
