Another small town, another market.
The Zoucheng market is smaller than the Xizhou one and, from the very first impression I had, it seemed also to be less*vegeterian*. At least this is what I thought when as soon as we entered the square where the market took place, we saw some desk full of pork meat.

It seemed to me tha the main activity of this area is the agricolture.
This is not definitly a town for people who have the hay fever, infact in any house, courtyard, and even in the samllest street you will find some hay.
After seing a lot of hay in the street I asked why people left them there and my driver told me they stayed there to get dry before being taken to the house.

In Xichou, though the market offers the opportunity to take a lot of pics, do not stop just there, go outside the main streets and wander around the town, you will have the chance to see some local houses, architecture and above all other daily activities different from selling handicrafts and vegetables.
I was there with a private driver and I simply asked him to bring me where people lived and work, not just where they were waiting for tourists, he was more than happy to do so.

This market is not huge, but it gives you the chance to see some Bai women with their traditional clothes and hats.
Fortunatly here, there are not so many people asking you to buy their stuffs, this is one of the things I appreciated more around Yunnan markets.
When i came here it was a cloudy day which I enjoyed thanks to the really many clours that this market offers, from clothes to vegetables, to hats and food.

As I could not find Zhoucheng in the list of Yunnan towns in VT and as I do not have many tips to write about it, I will build a page about Zhoucheng together with Xizhou.

This small village, located 24km North from Dali, is easily reached by bike. Here, you can admire the original architecture of Bai people.
