Some 120 kilometres east of the city, this old temple dates back to 300 A.D. Originally a collection of grass huts, it later became one of the biggest Buddhist complexes in China and still covers more than 44,600 square meters.

This mountain is one of Chinese Buddhism's most important sites. About 140 kilometres south of Ningbo, Tiantai has several impressive temples which feature Buddhist art, sightseeing, vegetarian meals and even overnight accommodation.
