Taohua Dao Off The Beaten Path

We only had one hour left before we had to head back to the bus stop (to take the bus from the Island to Shanghai) We were thinking to go up to the temple, but we were too cheap. Not willing to pay RMB 35 each. We decided to take an adventurous trip and just walked around the neighborhood. We ended up hiking on some steep rocks.

One funny thing we noticed was that we found some people were 'sun drying/roasting' peanuts on top of the rocks. Made me wonder why they would spend so much time and effort to roast the peanuts. (The sun dried peanuts tasted pretty good by the way)

The interesting part was that we actually ended up at one of the entrances to the temple. Tried to get in but we got kicked out. Oh well, we didn't have time anyways.

It was great to be able to get away from the busy city life of Shanghai and walked on the remote island.
