  • Gongsheng Grains Workshop

    Wuzhen Things to Do

Gongsheng Grains Workshop is one of the attractions in Wuzhen East Town. Basically, they are selling rice wine, at the same time show you how an actual distillery churning out a pungent rice wine. This was the traditional way to make rice wine in Wuzhen. I was more interested to see the traditional workshop than testing their wine.In Chinese:...

If it's a hot day like it was in April 2012, do look out for the ice-cream man! He's the guy with a big wooden box -- yup, it's his ice-cream box! ;) Amazing but true, he will pick out ice-cream sticks (more of a sorbet rather than ice-cream with cream sort of ice lollies) and it'd be divine on a hot day! Then walk into a tea shop and order some...

    Xitang Transportation

There're various ways to get to Xitang. There're departures by coach from the Shanghai Stadium, but this method though more hassle-free, is slightly more expensive, and the timing is also inflexible. Ye Xiao Lu: Eat, Drink, Be Merry All Night

by hangzhoulover Written Dec 28, 2005

The bar scene is lacking in Shengzhou. Most close by 11pm. So what is there to do for you nightowls in Shengzhou? Eat, Drink, and Be Merry all night long on Ye Xiao Lu (night snacks street). Its a cheap way to drink into oblivion or to stuff yourself silly or to learn all about the wonderful world of Chinese food. A definite highlight of Shengzhou. Here you can enjoy everything from fried bananas to lamb bone soup, meat kebobs to fresh fish, dog and rabbit meat to good old steamed dumplings. There are enough stalls and small restaurants so you can try a new one every night. Inexpensive, fast, delicious, and best of all, open till 4 in the morning!
