The island in the distance

This island is reached from a ferry boat. My wife and I, with our friend Iris were dropped off and rode the ferry. I believe the price was 10 yuan. We went for our wedding photo shoot. The island was very clean with nice paved paths. Scenery was gorgeous! There were booths to buy food and I can't tell you what my wife and friend ate, but they loved it!

Naxijiang - Nanxi River

Nanxijiang

A few hours drive out of Wenzhou is the Nanxijiang Scenic Area - well worth a visit.

The river itself is very clean and shallow, although the current are strong in a few places. Most visitors congregate in a few select areas where parking and shops are available, although there are plenty of areas where you can just pull over - just watch your car, as there are a few undesirable characters in the area who see tourists as a nice source of income.

Jiangxinyu - Jiangxin Island

Jiangxinyu

About the only interesting thing to see in Wenzhou, Jiangxinyu make a good few hours, with a nice temple, pagoda, and pavillions - all in all a nice park.

However, getting there can be a little odd. Don't try to be clever and try to drive there (a bridge does connect the islands western end) as you still have to pay to enter the actual park, as well as paying a toll on the bridge itself.

Cheaper than the bridge entrance (even without the toll price) is the ferry from Wenzhou city center.

Also on the island, the bridge side, is a rather decrepid looking amusement park, although this was covered in weeds when I was there...

Inside La Luna

Georges La Luna bar & Grill is located in the (月亮酒吧; Yuèliang Jiǔbā), No.5 Yong nan RD, Jiang bin xi RD, Across from European City (Ou zhou cheng) (温州市江滨西路,永楠路5号 (欧洲城对面,东门步行街口) (Near the T-junction on Yang Nan Rd). Showcases the highest percentage of foreigners in Wenzhou. Great hamburgers, quesadillas, fries, and nachos. Opens at 8 P.M. closes at 3 A.M. Its a "come as you are", relaxed bar/pub that sells real hamburgers, tacos, hotdogs, Fries, and other fine food. The owner is a quirky Mexican who is fun to hang out with when you find him.

The bars walls are covered in pictures of all the patrons who have visited it over the years and they are from all over the world. If your looking to meet some people and have a conversation this would be the place to go.

cheers!

Taxi! Hold on tight!

4 taxis in view

Essentially craziest drivers & pedestrians I've ever encountered! The taxi drivers will make your heart rush. In two months I encountered no one who could speak English and my pitiful Mandarin didn't help. When traveling alone, I had learned the roads and could point. But often I called a friend on the cell phone, asked them to speak to the driver and then we were on our way.

Tips are not expected and nothing more than a small one (change) would be accepted. This honestly bothered me not be allowed to tip much.

Tourist Traps

Keep an eye on your money with merchant

Retailer will accept your money for payment then if you aren't watching closely, swap your yuan for a conterfiet yuan! Happened only once in the city, but it was 100 yuan (about $12 USD).

Fun Alternatives: Of course, the fake yuan made for an interesting item to take home and discuss.
