Staying overnight

Xitang is prettiest at dawn and dusk, so try to stay overnight if you can. The ticketed attractions can more or less be done in half a day, so come in the late afternoon and leave the next day after lunch.

Peanut and sesame pastries at a small shop near the Huanxiu bridge (walking in the direction of Songzilaifeng bridge), freshly made by a young lad. If you can read Chinese characters, the shop's name is "Long Feng" (Dragon Phoenix). Feel free to try before you buy!

Admission fees

It's 30 RMB for admission to Xitang only (exclusive of 11 ticketed attractions), 60 RMB for combined ticket (inclusive of 11 ticketed attractions) and another 60 RMB for a guide (well, not sure if they've English-speaking ones). You can also choose to buy the 30 RMB ticket and then buy separate tickets for the ticketed attractions that you wish to visit, but it only makes sense if you're choosing to visit 1 or 2 of those. Otherwise, buy the combined ticket. NB You CANNOT buy the separate tickets if you don't have the 30 RMB ticket to start with!
Apparently, there's no student price available... However, no one tried to sell me any tickets when I arrived in the late afternoon (after 5)!
