Flying Fish Cove is a natural bay and is a great place for snorkeling. There is semblance of a beach here, but it is littered with broken pieces of corals.
Most of the Malays on the island stay in the area of Kampong, along Flying Fish Cove. There is a mosque here and most inhabitants heed the calls to pray 5 times a day. Generally, being more conservative as Muslims, I wouldn't recommend you go The Full Monty while doing your sun-bathing here.
